He's had his fair share of toast in the last few months, but the chewing becomes cuter as he gets teeth. Within about 2 weeks he went from zero to four of them. Is it weird that I am fascinated by watching him chew?

Computer Guy
His Granny got him a baby laptop, but for some reason he still wants ours. I have faith that one day, when I say "No", he'll say "Yes, Ma'am" and not just laugh in my face :)

Sweet Tooth
When I took this video a few days ago, our baby was getting one tooth. Now he's up to three. Two on the bottom and one on the top. The teething symptoms have been with us for a while, and now we can finally see his pearly whites coming thru!

You Float My Boat
He was covered from head to toe in SPF 50 waterproof sunscreen. And he even kept his hat on most of the time. All ready for another pool adventure...a baby float! He did awesome.

Foot In Mouth
I read in one of my parenting books that babies can start sucking on their toes at around 4 or 5 months. Brock seems to have just figured it out and he hardly ever does it. I blame it on our general shortness as a family...it's probably hard to reach those tootsies all the way up there. In any case, I had to snap a few pics.
P.S. I posted late yesterday so if you missed "Tongue Clicking" check it out :)

Tongue Clicking
My hubby's family taught him how to do this. He's getting his sound effects down! Now let's work on "Ma-Ma" :)

Splish Splash
One thing I do love about the south is that you can go swimming in March. It snowed in my hometown this week, and here we are taking a dip :) This was Brock's first time in the big pool. We bounced and splashed and had a great time. Good first day. When it warms up a little more, we'll work on floating and dunking!

Quasi Crawl
I almost called this post "Hunch Brock", but comparing our cute little baby to Quasimoto didn't seem very flattering...although I suppose I just did it anyway. His first crawl isn't pretty, but it's definitely functional, and I'm sure he'll have perfect form in no time. This literally happened overnight...and I think we're in for it. As my mom would say, "He's gonna give you a run for your money!"
He started causing a ruckus right away. |
This is fine as long as he doesn't eat the fake dirt. |
There he goes...off to find another adventure. |

Expanded Menu
Now that Brock is 8 months old there are some new foods he can eat!! Yesterday he had yogurt for the first time. I haven't found any food that he doesn't like. Not sure if that's good or bad :)

High Chair Snoozing
As I've been saying, nap time has been tough lately. The other day, after spending a big chunk of the afternoon trying to get my tired baby to take a nap, I finally got him out of his crib at around 4 p.m. I "wore" him in the Moby wrap while I worked in the kitchen, and he helped me make clam chowder and homemade bread. Then I got his dinner ready. By the time I got him in his high chair, it was around 5 o'clock and he had only had one itsy bitsy morning nap all day. What happened next came as no surprise to me.

Sweet 'N Sour
Yesterday was Pa's birthday. Pa took the day off and came to visit Brock, and we made Pa his favorite...key lime pie. Brock tested the limes for us.

Sampson
I know the story of Sampson doesn't end well for him, but its just the first thing that came to mind when I saw my baby toppling his play gym over with one little tug...what brute strength. I guess when you've done all you can do with a toy, you start to get a little creative. Way to go, Stud :)

Tupperware Party
Sometimes when I am in the kitchen I put toys on the floor for him so I can keep him close. But he's getting into cupboards now. Who needs toys when we have Tupperware? I can't believe my baby's big enough to get into the cabinets!

Catch Ya Later, Nap
Napping is not such a popular activity in our home right now. I blame it on the novelty of being able to sit and stand up in the crib, and maybe a little teething. It's definitely not for lack of sleepiness...
After his last attempt to sit back up, he literally fell asleep in a sitting position--hunched over--head on lap. |
P.S. Happy Birthday, Maria!!

Edward Cullen Hair
I am a Twilight fan. Not a total Twi-Hard, but I did make my husband take me to Walmart at midnight when the first movie came out on DVD...and I have read all the books...a few times...and seen all the movies...and I have been to Forks. And the other day when Brock got banana in his hair, I decided to give him Edward Cullen hair before I washed it out...

This Is How I Do It
He let me in on his little secret. For a few days, he would only sit himself up behind closed doors at nap time. Now we all get to see how the magic happens...

Stick Your Tongue Out
Will we regret that we taught him this?

I Sat Myself Up
It's nap time. Well, it's supposed to be nap time. I lay Brock down in his crib, cover him with a blanket, give him a pacie and a bear, and call it good. I walk out of his room and hear happy babbling sounds coming from his vicinity and figure he'll fall asleep eventually. After several minutes I still hear him, so I go in to check, and this is the scene before me. A wide awake Brock bouncing on his crib mattress. Not only is he not sleeping, but he's no longer laying down. I have never seen him get himself into a sitting position on his own, but apparently it's his new trick. He hasn't shown me how he does it, but something magic happens at nap time when mommy walks out of the room...

I'm Sinking
He hates getting his fingernails cut. I have learned that in order to accomplish this task, it is best to get him distracted. Since he loves the plant in his bathroom, his bathroom counter is usually the clipping spot. But he scoots. And knocks things over. And inches his way into the sink. So this is how we end up.
