Back to My Roots

There are a few items in Brock's dresser that are truly vintage--some things that my mom kept of mine from when I was little. I seem to remember pictures of me wearing them when I was a toddler, but they must have shrunk over the years because Brock can wear them now at four months old with just a roll of the cuff. We have more than what is pictured here but we'll save those for another time. Here he is wearing a Sonics Tee and Seahawks hoodie while perusing some literature his Granny sent from the Great Northwest.

Veteran's Day Parade

Brock went to his first parade on Friday for Veteran's Day. He saw so many "firsts" I could not possibly keep track. Bands, drums, army trucks, tanks, motorcycles, soldiers, girl scouts, American flags, policemen, ambulances, Shriners, clowns, horses. I guess I did keep track of a few. The parade was in direct conflict with his nap time, so he was pretty tuckerd out when it was over, but all in all I think he had a good time!
Thank you, Veterans.

He's waving the flag even with his mittens on. Gifted.

Tired baby
You must turn your sound all the way up to hear this. So cute!

A New Perspective

The other day, Brock was sitting in his Bumbo chair with a wonderful array of toys on his tray, but all he wanted to do was leeeeeeean over toward his play gym. So I moved his seat closer and let him go at it. You could almost see the wheels turning in his head. "Wow, these are the toys I used to bat at lying down when I was a baby. Now that I'm a big boy I can sit up and play with them.  They look so different from up here! Oooh, I can get them in my mouth. Life is good."

You called, Mother?
Hey, look what I can do!

This thing tastes so good. I like green martian flavor.

Going Bananas

Last week, Brock had a taste of banana and peach when he sucked on a few chunks of fruit. This week, we went a step further. We mashed up bananas on a spoon...it's time to practice eating! And here are the pics to prove it...his first messy eating photos. Solid food won't be a huge part of his diet for a while, but it's not too early to let him get the hang of having food in his mouth, keeping food in his mouth, using his tongue, and swallowing something other than milk. Oh so much to learn. But I must say as far as eating goes, I think he's a natural. So every night right before his bath, we strap him into the Bumbo, put a bib on him, and go a little bananas :)

Peer Pressure

Being an only child (so far) Brock hasn't spent a ton of time around other kids. Aside from a few Sunday mornings in the church nursery and tagging along with me on the occasional childcare gig, I have been Brock's main source of entertainment during the day. Until a few days ago. Brock's four-year-old cousin has spent three days with us. She is bound and determined to teach him how to crawl. And say "SARAH".  Who knows...maybe he'll be a quick learner :)

Taking a break to get our Disney on.

You Blow Me Away

Don't judge me. I think Jason did this for the first time, and once we saw Brock's reaction, I couldn't stop.
