An exciting thing happened today. Apparently Brock's hospital crib is the perfect place for him to pull himself up :)The side can slide all the way up or down, but at about midway he can get just the right amount of leverage to make it work. He had been pulling himself up to his knees in there for the last day or two, but he surprised us today and got all the way up on his feet. He looks so proud of himself. Hopefully we'll get to go home tomorrow and he can figure out how to pull up on some furniture at our house!

Hospital
Poor little baby's been in the hospital this week. Started out as a cold and it moved into his lungs. When I took him to the doctor on Monday, they admitted us to the hospital because he was having to work too hard to breathe. He's getting better every day, but he's still on oxygen, and we need him to sleep through the night without it before we can go home. He's been winning over all the nurses with his bright eyes and happy smile. Hopefully we'll be home soon :)

The first day and night we were here, before they put the oxygen tubes in his nose, he was on this "blow by" with air just blowing into his face. We used his teddy bear to rig it up. Sweet baby :) |

Da Da
All the tongue twisting had a purpose. The next day, a bunch of new sounds started coming out of his mouth. Ma...da...numnerdablpla. So exciting! Off camera, he said ma ma. Not mama. Ma space ma. Just a repeated syllable, not my name. Then he threw in a "da da" or two. No "ma ma" for the camera, but a little "da da". Figures.

Tongue Twister
All of a sudden he has discovered his tongue. Every time I looked at him this day, he was twisting it around in his mouth. Perhaps some more baby sounds are on the horizon?

Buddies
This day started out with a little photo shoot. You can see Brock is pretty interested in his friend. Still not quite sure what baby J thinks. Time will tell :)
Look, we're both smiling at the camera--this is kind of a big deal. |
Hey. Man! What's up? |
So glad you came over today.... |
Look, Mom! My friend is here :) |
We're gonna have a fun day |
I'm so excited I have to wave my arms and bounce |
This little piggy went to market... |

Do the Shopping Cart
This isn't the first time Brock has ridden in the shopping cart basket, but it's still kind of new for us. He has fun and makes lots of friends. Yesterday, we went to Sam's Club to pick one thing up, but he was having such a good time we just kept wandering around the store. He's a great shopper.
I'm buckled in. Ready for my ride, Mom. |
This is my aisle! |
Metal. Yep, this is pretty sturdy. |
Who was that? Where's she going? |
So many milk cartons... |
It was nice chatting with you. |
There goes my new friend. |
There are giant caterpillars here! I see where one of my Christmas presents came from! |
Now this is really a good toy. So squishy. |

Pillow Fight
Every morning when I make the bed, I put Brock right in the middle and tell him what I'm doing. I'm hoping to raise a boy that at least knows how to do the basics. "Pull the sheets up over the mattress. Straighten them out. Pull up the bed spread. Get out the wrinkles. Then, put the PILLOWS on". Every time I get a pillow, I bop him on the head with it. Just a little tap. He thinks its hilarious. He may think that "pillow" means "I'm gonna bop you on the head"...but it's fun.
