Laughing with Mimi

It seems Brock always has a smile on his face. He goes through most of the day laughing. Sometimes he gets himself chuckling about whatever a six-month-old finds funny, and sometimes he gets a little help. He and his Mimi shared a few giggles the other day at the beach house :)

Beach Bum

We took a family trip to the beach last weekend. My grandparents have been visiting our neck of the woods for the past month, and on their way back to the West Coast, they treated us and my uncle and cousins to a few days at a beach house. This was Brock's first time at the beach, and boy was it fun!

So this is that ocean sound my sleep sheep makes, huh?

Good Morning, Mimi
Good Morning, Cousin Matthew!

Billy Bob Joe is so soft

What a chick magnet

Uncle Jeff and me

I'm ready to go down  to the beach!

This white sand is much softer than the playground stuff

I like white sand beaches

Can you bury my feet again, Mom?

Look at me walking on the beach!
Eating breakfast at sunrise

It's not everyday you get to watch the sun come up!
Look what God did!

Hangin' out with Daddy

Soaking up some sun while baby was napping

No glasses today, Mimi? Guess I'll have to play with your necklaces.

Thanks for a fun weekend, Pop Pop!

Three Course Meal

We are going through a major transition in Brock's culinary journey. We are officially moving to a meal schedule that includes a variety of solid foods three times per day. Gone are the days of occasional banana bites and pear purees. We're talking breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. This was his first real lunch which included oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and fruit. Mmmmmmm :) Our boy likes to eat!

Brock Blocks

I don't think the poor kid knows his name yet. I've got to quit calling him a million nicknames. B-R-O-C-K...that spells Brock. That's your name :) Maybe this will help?

A Toast

First piece of toast. I think this will be a breakfast staple.

Little Drummer Boy

I told my mom the other day that I wanted to add some more structure to our days by planning different activities for Brock to do. One of her suggestions was "music time"...i.e. get out the pots and pans and a wooden spoon or two. We did. I was impressed at how quickly he caught on. Maybe we have a little BRock Star on our hands :)

Orange and Blue

We are an FSU family. At our wedding reception, the groomsmen entered the room to The War Chant. When we moved to Mississippi, we hung our FSU flag with pride and blared our fight song from the car stereo at game time. When our son was born, my husband insisted he wear a Seminole onesie home from the hospital which I had to make because you can't get them small enough. His first crocheted baby blanket was garnet and gold. Along with doggies, kitties, ducks, and sheep, we are teaching him "what a Seminole says". I once put a cute blue designed Osh Kosh T-shirt on the child with a pair of orange shorts. His dad came home and said, "What is my son wearing?!" I changed him immediately. You get my point.
Our beloved brother-in-law is one of our favorite people despite the fact that he is a Gator fan. The first time he came over to visit Brock, we made sure our boy was ready.  Uncle Mikey was ready, too.
My dear cousins are gator fans, too (bless their hearts). Because of this (and Tim Tebow), my Mimi became part of the Gator Nation.  Oh how she loves to rib my hubby.  Whether we win or lose, we can count on antagonistic phone calls and emails from her throughout football season. Her best move to date has been a blanket she made for Brock. Check out the personalized touch.
The gator is chomping a Seminole spear...in his dreams :)

Well, from here on out, this is the closest thing to Gator orange and blue this kid will ever wear :)
