Baby Talk
Have you ever heard of Dunstan Baby Language? The idea is that all babies cry using 5 "words" and each one has a specific meaning.
1) Neh = Hungry
2) Owh = Sleepy
3) Heh = Needs a Diaper Change
4) Eh = Needs a Burp
5) Eairh = Has Gas Pain
I was so intrigued by this, albeit skeptical. I watched videos on YouTube, took notes, and listened to see if Brock spoke this universal baby language. I don't think he does. Guess he didn't get the memo. I have learned his sleepy cry, though, and it's pretty obvious. It's the one that sounds like he's too tired to cry. If you're interested, you can watch Dunstan Baby Language Lesson 1 on YouTube. If not, you can check out Brock speaking his own baby language :)

I Give Up
This is my baby's regular nighttime position. I can't bring myself to swaddle his arms when I put him to bed. They need to be free. Oh man, he's so cute. Aaaah. I hope he always sleeps this well.

Where Did My Hair Go?
Babies lose the hair they are born with. It's just one of the many things I have learned in the past three months. The baby hair gradually falls out and then new hair grows in. I had no idea. Brock was born with a head full of dark dark brown hair. All the nurses commented on his beautiful hair in the hospital. Jason made lots of jokes about how his son already had more hair than his daddy. And then it started falling out. It is being replaced with slightly lighter hair...a bit more of a blend of Jason and me since I was completely blond as a little girl. Anyway, the back of his little head just cracks me up right now. The only part that still has all his newborn hair is the very back, and I fear we may have a baby mullet on our hands before long. Business in the front, party in the back!

Heritage Quilt
One very special gift Brock received when he was born was given to him by our dear friend Donna. It is called a heritage quilt. You collect garments from baby's family members...mom, dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles. They can be anything...shirts, pants, dresses (we even added one of my own baby outfits and some hand embroidered dish towels from my mom and Mimi). Then you make a quilt out of all the pieces. You put a book together with the scraps of fabric and put all the family members' pictures next to their fabric so baby will know which pieces came from which person. A lot of times, they are made baby size, but Donna made ours extra special, and it is big enough for a full size bed so Brock can use it even when he grows up. We love our heritage quilt! It is on the guest bed in the nursery so we can look at it every day and remember how many people love this little boy!
