Future Rock Star

So Brock likes my guitar. And "drums"....

Now what do we have here?
Oh, something I can pull up on!

Now on to the rhythm section...

They call me sticks...

...two, three, four...
That's my jam!

Happy Birthday, Daddy

We've finger painted before. Today we chose a little different medium. Instead of food paint made with rice cereal, we created a sparkly paint with flour, salt, and water that dries on heavy duty paper so we could keep his artwork this time :) Happy Birthday, Da Da :)

And here's a present from me...homemade Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake :)

Lambert the Sheepish Lion

We had named Brock's toy lion Daniel. I think his name is now Lambert. This scene repeats itself several times a day in our house.

Here's where the song came from. An old Disney cartoon :)

Socks

Brock, that's J's sock. Don't pull it off...

I just pulled it a little bit, Mom.
Brock, that's J's sock. Don't pull it again, Honey.

I know, I just pulled it a little bit, Mama.

Brock, what did I tell you about J's sock?

I know, but if his socks are on, I can't play with his toes.

Table Talk

He can pull up in a hospital crib. He can pull up in his own crib. Next step: pull up on some furniture! He's working on it. I keep setting him in front of our coffee table. Here's what happens:
I'm reaching for it. Can I get a grip?

Okay, two hands...

Peekaboo...I see you!

My bottom has left the floor!

I'm on one knee...

...and back down again. Whoops.

Let's try again!

Jiggle It

Brock loves it when Aunt Ginny comes over. She is so fun, and she's a perfect excuse not to go down for a nap if she happens to come before he falls asleep :) Here's a little sample of some of their good times.

Turban-ator

I was changing his shirt one day, and it got stuck on his head. Struck me as funny.

Looks a bit like a first century Jewish woman here...oops.

Say Hi

Sometimes he says "hi". I promise. Well, it sounds like it. I was trying to get it  on video, but he didn't really do it here. I still thought the video was cute though. I guess I think every video of him is cute. Anyway, when I get a good clip of him saying it, there will be another post about saying hi.

Does this diaper make my butt look big?

Silly Mommy :)

Million dollar smile...

No Means No

I am starting to tell Brock "no" sometimes. He doesn't do much that I don't want him to do, but I figure it's good to start teaching him the concept. So when I was eating my breakfast the other day and he wanted to get into my cereal, I kept telling him "no". Except it came across more as a funny game and he just kept laughing at me...I take full responsibility for this. Maybe he thought it sounded funny the way I said it. Maybe he thinks his smile will get him whatever he wants in life. I'll use a stern mommy voice next time and try not to laugh.

Side Sleepin'

Our baby is a back sleeper. Always. Every nap. Every night. So imagine my surprise when I walked in to check on him the other day and he was curled up on his side. Super cute. Makes him look like a big boy :)

Sporting a Tapout shirt for Uncle Tyler and Uncle Josh :)
I still love his feet. Aaaahh....

Green Thumb

He loves this plant in his bathroom. Every time we walk by, he reaches for it. What does he want to do? Pull it apart of course!

Welcome to My Crib

We don't need no stinkin' hospital crib :)

Boot Scootin' Brocky

This is a video from a few weeks ago. It would probably be more exciting to watch in fast motion...kind of long and you don't really realize that he's making progress unless you're paying attention to the spot on the floor where he started and where he ends up. The best part I didn't really get on camera. But he  does get around on his bouncy little bum. Funny :)

Baby Hulk

I don't know quite understand what this is all about, but I love it.

Tigger

Jason's favorite was Tigger. Brock got his first Tigger for Christmas. Here's a little song we do before our nap. We're trying to make him a fan. Looks like it's working.

Last of the Hospital Pics

We are home from the hospital as of yesterday :) Here are that last few pics I had taken. I published yesterday's post late, so if you missed it check it out. Thanks for all your prayers and kind thoughts. Our boy is feeling much better.

Star patient...loved the breathing treatments. The steam was just supposed to blow in his face, but he went one better.

This bear sings Zippety Doo Da, and the blue bird tweets.

He bear's mouth moves while he sings. Brock is a fan.

A make-shift high chair using the car seat. Can we go home now?

Pulling Up to Knees and First Time Standing

I posted a quick video of Brock pulling up while we were in the hospital. Here are a few other videos...him pulling up to his knees and the very first pull up to his feet. The pulling up to his feet video goes sideways because I got so excited and turned the camera. But this shows the progression of how it happened. Fun that I got the very first time on video!

Pull Up

An exciting thing happened today. Apparently Brock's hospital crib is the perfect place for him to pull himself up :)The side can slide all the way up or down, but at about midway he can get just the right amount of leverage to make it work. He had been pulling himself up to his knees in there for the last day or two, but he surprised us today and got all the way up on his feet. He looks so proud of himself. Hopefully we'll get to go home tomorrow and he can figure out how to pull up on some furniture at our house!

Hospital

Poor little baby's been in the hospital this week. Started out as a cold and it moved into his lungs. When I took him to the doctor on Monday, they admitted us to the hospital because he was having to work too hard to breathe. He's getting better every day, but he's still on oxygen, and we need him to sleep through the night without it before we can go home. He's been winning over all the nurses with his bright eyes and happy smile. Hopefully we'll be home soon  :)

The first day and night we were here, before they put the oxygen tubes in his nose, he was on this "blow by" with air just blowing into his face. We used his teddy bear to rig it up. Sweet baby :)

Da Da

All the tongue twisting had a purpose. The next day, a bunch of new sounds started coming out of his mouth. Ma...da...numnerdablpla. So exciting!  Off camera, he said ma ma. Not mama. Ma space ma. Just a repeated syllable, not my name. Then he threw in a "da da" or two. No "ma ma" for the camera, but a little "da da". Figures.

Tongue Twister

All of a sudden he has discovered his tongue. Every time I looked at him this day, he was twisting it around  in his mouth. Perhaps some more baby sounds are on the horizon?

Buddies

This day started out with a little photo shoot. You can see Brock is pretty interested in his friend. Still not quite sure what baby J thinks. Time will tell :)
Look, we're both smiling at the camera--this is kind of a big deal.
Hey. Man! What's up?

So glad you came over today....

Look, Mom! My friend is here :)

We're gonna have a fun day

I'm so excited I have to wave my arms and bounce

This little piggy went to market...
This little piggy stayed home...
This kid is hilarious, I tell ya.

You crazy guy...

'Sup, Mama?
I have to say something...

He has five fingers on this hand...

Can you believe that?
